Well since I'm changing my blog a little I'm going to be writing about all types of things.
So got home from work and had to start on dinner right away my kiddies were super hungry.  I had some pork loin ribs in the fridge that needed to be cooked so Google I searched.
I can across allrecipies.com and found a quick bbq recipient that turned out fantastic if I don't say so myself.
Along with the ribs I made home made mashed potatoes with cheese, sour cream and cream cheese as well as biscuits. Now I don't have things together enough to make dessert but hopefully I will soon.

common sense

How is it possible for a city with two casinos to go broke?? Why would you spend so much money to obtain and build something without having the funds to keep it maintained??? Well this city has managed to do it.
Their parks are crumbling, buildings are becoming dilapidated and no one seems to realize that if we don't start making some changes these "precious" landmarks aren't going to last.

What Have You Been Doing Lately????

what have you been doing lately????

have you thought about others??? and have you given back to the community, or even just one homeless person????

in a time where the economy is getting worse, despite their predictions, and people are finding it harder to provide for themselves, are you honestly helping someone??? on the T.V. they show all these programs about starving people, and poor living conditions in a third world country somewhere.... But what about the starving people, and poor living conditions right here in the U.S.????

Do you honestly look around you??? I don't mean just in your neighborhood, but in those neighborhoods you don't wanna go into.... now mind you yes some choose to live that way and could do better if they actually tried, but what about those who have no hope of getting out of the mess they're in??? and yes it is good to go to your local soup kitchen and help out, but have you ever had a conversation with them that was 30 minutes or longer???? have you heard their story, why they are were they are??? what if you where in that situation??? would you want someone to talk to you, to spend just a half an hour with you learning who you are???

well it was just something that was going through my head as I'm listening to the rain thinking about a nice guy i might while walking through the woods who was living out there... and was trying to get out but was having obstacles to climb over......

a look at people these days

today i was driving my mom and brother home during the high school rush.... which i should have known was going to be a mistake, but of course like always i didn't remember.... so i get to a green light and kids and adults are just walking out in front of the cars... there is no looking, no waiting for the on coming traffic to have a red light, just walking right in front of them..... then you have the ambulance who was trying to get over the bridge and none of the traffic getting out of the way.... and to top it off when the ambulance finally got through the mess of cars, the cars started to cut each other off.... i have thought about it for a little bit today and I've realised that no one has common courtesy any more.... everyone has to be first and no one better get in their way..... why have people evolved to this???? no one holds doors for anyone, no one lets someone who has less go in the check out line first, and god forbid you actually need something because most will look at you funny and turn away.... if there is hope out there for people to be civilized again or you have actually seen someone do something nice for someone other than because they have to, please tell them thank you..... at least for me...

a cat fight for men....lol

ok so yesterday..... i had to take matt to work with me while my mom stayed home sick.... while taking the dogs and my many bags.... so wouldnt you know that it had to be an interesting day.... and i bet you that it was only because matt stayed home from school and my mom didnt come in.... well before i even reached the front door mark had to talk to me in the middle of the street.... and when i asked him if he could at least wait til i got inside to talk to me he got mad.... that was a perfect start... so his story was that this "big bald guy" down the hall from him cursed him out for not holding the elevator.... but that mark called him a princess and a pussy.... so the "big bald guy" threatened him..... ok so it sound believable.... ive never known justin "the big bald guy" to go off on anyone for anything so i went on with my day..... come to find out that carmen witnessed the whole thing and was in the elevator with mark..... it wasnt justin who was in the wrong at all..... mark did get into the elevator and did close the doors on justin and justin did yell through the closed doors "you couldve held the door" well thats when mark started..... oh my gosh cursed justin out..... and the bad thing was that justin took the stairs so he got down to the first floor the same time mark did.... mark decided to fallow justin out and to continue to yel and curse at him... calling him more names and when he called justin a pussy again justin told him that if he didnt chill out that he was going to beat his ass...... and mind you justin is at least 2 times the size of mark.... but maybe mark was trying to make up for the fact that everyone knows that his girlfriend makes him cry.... i dont know what ever his problem was he probably needs to fix it because next time i dont think justins going to let it go.....

prison work

OK, so the economy is crumbling and there isn't enough money any where... there is no money for schools, shelters, even cities.... and yet we refuse to use the advantages we have to make life a little easier..... now back in the day maybe 1920's and up there were prison factories, and prison work shops... right???? and the merchandise that they made in the prison was sold to the regular public as a way for the prisoners to pay their way through their stay.. no matter how long they were in...well since the economy is in such a bad state that supposedly they don't have enough money to send to the distributors for food for the prisons... i believe that maybe we should start the prison jobs again... now i know that some of you might be saying, that's like a chain gang, and that its not fair to those who are in prison..... OK, so while the prisoners sit nice and cozy in their prison cell, using our money for food, furniture, clothing , and all their other "necessities"... we have people who work who cant afford all the nice things in life.... i think if we started up the prison farms, so they could raise their own produce.... and the access they could sell to local stores for a profit to the prison.... they should open up the workshops in the prisons again because when they had the prison workshops it gave hope to the inmates who got to participate in them because when they got out they had a job trade that they might be able to use on the outside to start over again... plus all the extra furniture, and other objects made, could be sold as a profit to help provide income for the prison..... now i know that this wouldn't completely help the whole financial crisis that's going on today but it would take care of a small portion of what eats up our taxes.... plus the inmates would learn useful skills that they maybe able to use in the regular world.... plus another thing to think is that if they were to have their own little farm kinda thing going on... then they could raise their own livestock, and produce their own meat and possibly have enough to send out to other stores....

what does age really mean????

OK, I know normally i don't talk about my personal issues on here but oh my gosh.... OK, so I'm 20 and i have a full time job... which right now I'm pulling doubles so I'm there from 830 am to 10 pm if not longer...... now my mom and i got into a car accident the Sunday before Christmas and we are getting our car fixed...

so naturally we got a rental car in the mean time so we have something to drive... well in order to drive the rental car i guess your supposed to be 21... so i can go and buy a new car, i can vote, i can die for my country but i cant drive a stupid rental car..... now in the accident my mom hurt her back so she shouldn't be driving.... so now we have to figure out how to manage me working doubles, my 7 yr old brothers bedtime, and my mom who's not supposed to be driving...... oh my gosh... and its all hertz..... because with Enterprise i would have been able to drive due to the fact that my mom isn't supposed to..... so what am i supposed to do about work??? and what is my mom supposed to do about not driving???? oh these stupid rules make no since....

another great one

ok this goes under the same heading of duh...
remember the blog i wrote about the guy who decided it was ok to go streeking in the building.. well guess what hes done it again.... no not the streeking, ok hes probably done that too... n i just didnt see it, but he some how dumped something on his chair (what it is i realy dont wanna know) that he had in his room and somehow lit it on fire.... now instead of owning up to it, and bringing the chair out to the dumpster... he decided that it would be a lot more fun to throw the chair down from the 5th floor to the 4th floor in the stairwell.... and when we went to go and figure out were the chair came from he had moved the furniture around so that the indents in the carpet were covered.... but we found them.... you cant hide anything from me.... now mind you ... yes he shouldnt have put the chair in the stairwell to begin with, but to have the nerve to try and hide the marks in the carpet.. is just going a little to far... dont you think???? and then to top it off he ended up blocking the staiwell door and stairs which is a major fire code...
so now i offering him up as a gift for anyone whos willing to take on this "lovely" project....

what are people thinking

oh my gosh!!! when i thought people couldn't get more interesting they always seem to out do themselves.... i have a tenant who decided to get a little drunk, OK he probably had WAY to many... but he decided to run around the building in a toga looking blanket thing....with this big slit going all the way up to his hip.... now mind you he had nothing under it, and he has the serious beer belly, been 9 months pregnant since forever thing going on... so you can imagine what that looks like, right??
well i had some plumbers there n they said that there was a naked guy on the elevator, but at the time it was about 4am n i so wasn't awake yet.... well then around 9am my maintenance man came to me n told me that there was a man in the elevator who seemed drunk n wasn't wearing anything but a blanket.... so i told him to go n get him.... well when he brought the guy down stairs he refused to get out of the elevator so i had to get my big butt up out the chair to go n see who it was.... of course it was him....
n no I'm not giving names.. just in case... but anyways i told him that he wasn't allowed to run around the building with no close on... now get ready for this... he told me that he was allowed to run around like that, hes been doing it for a while and that i couldn't do anything about it.... so i said OK that's fine he needed to be out in 3 weeks and that i would have papers ready for him.. he said that's fine hell take us to court... OK so hes going to up in front of a judge and tell the judge that its OK if he runs around an apartment building half naked if not naked and that its OK even though there are children n women living there...
yea OK so i just had to tell someone else about my weird n festive day...

about a little girl

i never thought that people would be so self centered that they wont take care of their own child...
i know some one who has a beautiful 1 year old baby girl and she recently had these growths on her head... originally one was on the side of her head behind her ear and the other was on the other side of her head toward her neck... now originally they took her to silver cross hospital in Joliet, which obviously was a stupid move on their part..... the hospital told them that it was a water filled sits.... WRONG...... my mom and i told them that they needed to take her to children's memorial hospital in Chicago, just to get a second opinion.... when they took her in, the hospital immediately put her in a room and started running all these tests..... they found out that the masses were hard and not water filled sists at all.... so the hospital tested her for cancer......
now instead of leaving the baby in the hospital they brought her back home and went on with life as nothing happened...... then the masses began to move.... the one on the side of her head by her ear disappeared and the one towards her neck moved to her neck and became bigger..... so you would think that they would have taken her back to the hospital due to the fact that masses on a babies head shouldn't move let a lone be there..... but no, it would interfere with the lifestyles of the parents to much...... well the doctor called the parts because the test results were finally in, well its not cancer, but the hospital has no clue what it is.....
so between the fact that the masses moved and the fact that the doctors don't know what has happened to the baby..... now to top that off the mass on the back of her head is starting to so big that its pulling her tongue back, and the hospital has called a couple of times to try to get the baby back up there, but the parents don't think shes in pain, and keep saying that it would interfere with their schedule........
now I'm writing this because i don't know what to do..... I'm just fed up over the situation..... and i needed somewhere to vent about what has happened to a beautiful baby.....please everyone who reads this pray for her.... she deserves so much better than this......

schools n shelters vs. hotel

OK, so here's to the casinos.... Since they are so smart and rich.... They ,the casinos, decided that they don't have enough money to give to the City of Joliet for its salary to cover the schools and shelters.....

Now as we all know , OK hopefully most of us know, normally the casinos are the majority of the income coming in for schools and shelters.... So what are they supposed to do with no money coming in???? How are we supposed to supply all the materials that are needed???

So here's where the story takes a weird turn... Now the Harahs casino has been laying people off left n right, and they don't have any money for the city... But guess what they do have enough money to built a brand new "business" hotel... Now as it is they don't have a full occupancy at their current hotel.. So obviously they need a new hotel right??? Well i figured i would ask the question... Whats more important a new hotel or schools and shelters???

How was your Thanksgiving Dinner???

Where were you for Thanksgiving??? Did you have somewhere to go???
Now I'm pretty sure you were able to stuff yourself to the point you got sick, right??? Well what about those who yea might have somewhere to live but don't have enough money to go and buy a good Thanksgiving dinner, or maybe they don't have any family to go to for the holiday... While you were sitting in a nice cozy place with friends and family, they were sitting by themselves contemplating weather they should have spaghettios or chicken noodle soup... Now for this thanksgiving my apartment building served 17 plates to those that didn't have anywhere to go... we had such a good turnout... so many people brought in extra food to help make the plates fuller, and we even had a delivery person who took the plates door to door.... now one of my other tenants who used to be a chef went to both homeless shelters here in town... and he helped had out food..... my mom makes hats for the Morning Star Mission Shelter, so that way we know that they'll be warm.... And a couple of my other tenants helped out at some churches....
So my question to you is did you actually help those less fortunate??? Or did you just make your annual donation??? Did you know it actually helps people a lot more if you go in in person and show your face and give out a smile or to once in a while???
So I'm asking of you for the next holiday coming up try to be a little more giving and more personable..... Your love will go a long way...

Thats right men, women have more germs

We all remember when we were back in school and everyone was running around screaming cooties, and the boys didn't want a girl to touch him in fear of getting cooties.... Well there might have been some logic to it....

Apparently women have a greater variety of bacteria than men do... Women have a greater variety of bacteria on their hands than men do, a study has found.. And everybody has more types of bacteria than researchers expected to find. The researchers aren't sure why women harbor a bigger variety of bacteria than men, but it might have something to do with the acidity of their skin...

Men generally have more acidic skin than women. Other possibilities include differences in sweat and oil gland production, the frequency of moisturizer or cosmetics applications, skin thickness and hormone production.....

So, the question remains, should guys worry about holding hands with girls???? It mostly depends on which girl... Keep in mind that the vast majority of the bacteria we have on our bodies are either harmless or beneficial.... the pathogens are a small minority.... The researchers took samples from 51 college students and tested the samples using a system for detecting bacteria DNA. they identified 4,742 species of bacteria, only 5 of which were on every hand...

The study was in Monday's 11-4-08 online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.... The average hand harbored 150 species of bacteria. The left and right hands of the same individual shared only about 17 percent of the same bacteria types, the researchers found.

While the researchers emphasized the importance of regular hand-washing, they also noted that washing did not eliminate bacteria.. Either the bacterial colonies rapidly re-establish after hand-washing, or washing... does not remove the majority of bacteria taxa found on the skin surface.....

People you know

Have you ever read the police blotter in the newspaper??? well today was a very interesting day for me to read it..It was one of those ,wow ,look were my classmates ended up, situations....

Now i knew from looking at the sex offender web site that a previous classmate was on there, and had been to jail for raping a younger female, but i didn't realize until today that he is a habitual sex offender..... It was astonishing to me that someone i used to ride the bus with, someone i had class with, had to stoop this low by the age of 20......

now i know people make mistakes but gosh to become a habitual sex offender is a little to much..... well i know that this wasn't very informational but it did make me realize that every now and then you have to look back at those who grew up with you and see where they're at....plus its always a good thing to look at the sex offender web site just to know who's around you...

oh and i also found out that right across the street from my job is a sex offender... and on top of that hes a pastors son..... well happy hunting and here's the web address for the offender web site... http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/sor.cfm

Teflon.... and what it can do to you...

The widespread use of polymer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), better known to most people by its brand name, Teflon. PTFE was discovered accidentally by chemist Roy J. Plunkett (1910–1994) of DuPont, in 1938, while trying to create a new CFC refrigerant. It turned out that the waxy white substance has the lowest coefficient of friction of any known solid, and thus DuPont began exploring its commercial possibilities as a coating. DuPont patented it in 1941, registered the Teflon trademark in 1944, and began selling it in 1946. By 1950, DuPont was annually producing over one million tons of PTFE.
Much of the Teflon that has been created since its introduction, has ended up being used for nonstick pans and other cookware, which regularly come into contact at high temperatures with foods that we eat. Consequently, we must ask ourselves, just exactly how safe is Teflon? What happens to the fragments of Teflon — visible or otherwise — that inevitably chip off when cooking utensils and other items strike the surfaces of Teflon-coated pans? Many people assume that the practically friction-free material must pass harmlessly right through their bodies.
Initially, consumers were assured that Teflon is chemically inert and non-toxic, and therefore completely safe. But the tough questions should have been asked decades ago, given that Teflon is not chemically bonded to any cookware surface (in fact, it cannot chemically bond to anything). To get Teflon to stick, the target surface is roughened via sandblasting, covered with a primer, and then covered with Teflon, which gets stuck in microscopic interstices. Wouldn't repeated use at high temperatures cause portions of that Teflon to be continually released, into the food, and in turn into us?
That turns out to be the case. It was later discovered that, at temperatures above 500°F (260°C), Teflon begins to decompose. The resultant gases are known to produce hallucinations and flu-like symptoms for humans, and death for indoor birds. The number of people possibly affected by Teflon, must be enormous, given that over 70% of the cookware purchased in the United States has a nonstick coating.
PTFE is not the only potentially hazardous chemical involved in the manufacture of Teflon. For instance, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a.k.a. C-8, is used to make Teflon, although it is not a component of Teflon. However, uncured cookware can have traces of PFOA. In February 2006, a group of independent scientific advisers to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voted unanimously that the EPA should classify PFOA as a likely carcinogen. DuPont responded by taking out full-page ads in major U.S. publications, assuring the public that Teflon is safe. Research has shown that PFOA is now found in the blood of most Americans. In fact, one study indicated that 96 percent of the children tested in 23 U.S. states, had traces of PFOA.

This is not the first time that PFOA has been in the news. In May 2005, a federal grand jury subpoenaed DuPont for documents, as requested by the U.S. Justice Department's Environmental Crimes Section. Only a month prior, DuPont had agreed to a settlement with the EPA, admitting that it neglected to report health safety information about PFOA for 20 years. In Teflon's defense, it should be noted that the major sources of PFOA are chemicals for stain- and water-resistance in clothing, carpets, and take-out food boxes. (More good reasons to prepare your own food, wearing clothing made of natural fibers.)
Yet even after any residual PFOA has disappeared from nonstick cookware, the Teflon poses a danger to humans and animals — roughly proportional to the cooking temperatures. The pet birds that have died from Teflon are reminiscent of the canaries formerly used in coal mines to warn miners of lethal gases, which would kill the canary first. Before that happens to you or your household members, consider replacing any Teflon-coated cookware with healthier alternatives, such as stainless steel, cast iron, silicon, or glass.

Aluminum cooking products...How are they for your health???

A leading Indian scientific authority warns that the use of aluminum cookware may contribute significantly to the development of Alzheimer's disease and other nervous disorders.
The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), which is part of the Indian Council of Medical Research, has concluded that the intake of aluminum compounds from many sources is on the rise and producing detrimental effects on human health. Aluminum cookware is especially dangerous when used to prepare acid foods such as tomatoes, which causes the metal to be leached out.

Besides Alzheimer's, toxic levels of aluminum has also been associated with Parkinson's disease, various dementia's and bone diseases. NIN doctors expressed special concern for the elderly whose ability to remove these toxins is reduced. The NIN experts noted that human exposure to aluminum is also on the increase from the water supply.
Besides naturally occurring aluminum, other aluminum compounds are added as part of the water treatment process. Also, aluminum is present in many popular OTC and prescription medicines such as antacids, antiperspirants, pain-killers and anti-diarrhea medicines.
Besides cookware, aluminum is increasingly being used in food packaging, especially ready-to-cook foods. Additionally, there are many aluminum-containing food additives in use as buffers, neutralizing agents, dough strengtheners and emulsifying agents.
How safe are you while you cook????

Is pyrex good or bad???? You decide.....

Food seems to go hand in hand with the holiday season, but some cooks using recently purchased glass Pyrex baking dishes have reported nasty surprises.

The dishes mostly the 13-by-9-inch baking dish have shattered unexpectedly.I looked this up on the Internet, and it appears quite common. In fact, no heat or cold seems to be necessary for Pyrex to explode. One person merely removed the Pyrex dish from the cabinet and it exploded in her hand. Another person had one explode brand new - upon removing it from the box. There are dozens and dozens of incidents at consumeraffairs.com and complaints.com.

Pyrex was developed as a tempered glass product by Corning Glass Works in 1924. Known as a "borosilicate" glass, it contains boron as well as the glass makers usual mix of sand, soda and lime. The boron makes the glass less likely to expand during changes in temperature. When it does break, scientists say it should crack into large pieces rather than shatter.
Over the years, Pyrex cookware has become a fixture in the kitchen. Many cooks say the Pyrex pie plate is the standard
pie dish. Pyrex measuring cups are also widely used.
So why the problems?

Scientists accustomed to using Pyrex test tubes and beakers in the laboratory say the glass can weaken with age and use. If small cracks develop over time, it can make the glass expand and contract in temperature extremes. But in the case of some consumers writing to ConsumerAffairs.com, the dishes were new, or at least fairly new.
Corning spun off its kitchenware's division in the 1990s, so Pyrex is now owned by World Kitchen, which also owns CorningWare. World Kitchen provides a two-year guarantee on its Pyrex products.
"World Kitchen, Inc. promises to replace any Pyrex brand glass item that breaks from oven heat within two years from date of purchase," the company says on its Website.

However, there are certain conditions. World Kitchens advises consumers to never use Pyrex products on stove tops, under a broiler, or in a toaster oven. Consumers are also told to avoid "severe" hot to cold temperature changes. Cooks, who in the past found that Pyrex was durable enough to allow some latitude from those conditions, are apparently finding that now, any deviation is risky business.
So how safe are you when you use Pyrex baking ware?????
