What Have You Been Doing Lately????

what have you been doing lately????

have you thought about others??? and have you given back to the community, or even just one homeless person????

in a time where the economy is getting worse, despite their predictions, and people are finding it harder to provide for themselves, are you honestly helping someone??? on the T.V. they show all these programs about starving people, and poor living conditions in a third world country somewhere.... But what about the starving people, and poor living conditions right here in the U.S.????

Do you honestly look around you??? I don't mean just in your neighborhood, but in those neighborhoods you don't wanna go into.... now mind you yes some choose to live that way and could do better if they actually tried, but what about those who have no hope of getting out of the mess they're in??? and yes it is good to go to your local soup kitchen and help out, but have you ever had a conversation with them that was 30 minutes or longer???? have you heard their story, why they are were they are??? what if you where in that situation??? would you want someone to talk to you, to spend just a half an hour with you learning who you are???

well it was just something that was going through my head as I'm listening to the rain thinking about a nice guy i might while walking through the woods who was living out there... and was trying to get out but was having obstacles to climb over......

The conditions out there are getting worse... it's scarey the number of homeless we have here!
Walking through the woods and finding a tent-village is becoming as normal as the hobo-camps of the 1930's... it's sad.
I look around our garden and can't wait to have enough produce to share... take it to the tent-village here... I know they'd appreciate it. Maybe take them an extra b-b-q grill we found and a cooler, too?!

The other day I drove down Plainfield Rd on the way to the mall. There was a homeless man sleeping on a bench outside St Francis... I was glad no one made him move and he was still sleeping peacefully when we returned.
Imagine having to be awake all night, for your own safety, and sleep all day! So many homeless everywhere with the economy the way it is... I've got to get back on knitting hats for the homeless... I only have 5-10 and winter is 4 months away!

AS the economy tanks it becomes more obvious that it's every man for himself. Looking to elders for their wisdom is gone. Looking into the eyes of one with a wind-worn face and knowing they have knowledge they could never fully impart to us in their lifetimes seems to escape all but the truly humble.

I'm on Hat #45 for the Homeless 2014~ wish I had more done but time constraints affect my knitting... Matt and I have so much fun handing out hats to those waiting in line to eat at MorningStar Mission once cold weather begins to set in... Wish we could do more!!!
