How is it possible for a city with two casinos to go broke?? Why would you spend so much money to obtain and build something without having the funds to keep it maintained??? Well this city has managed to do it.
Their parks are crumbling, buildings are becoming dilapidated and no one seems to realize that if we don't start making some changes these "precious" landmarks aren't going to last.

As I drove past the old Collins St Joliet Prison I saw more of the same senselessness~ namely the proposed community parks that were supposed to go in around the beautiful quary and on monkey hill behind the old women's prison have been replaced by ominous signs to the effect of "State Property No Trespassing"!!!!! What happened to the planned soccer fields and hiking trails? Why are these stupid signs placed about every 20-50 feet on both sides of the new road connecting Woodruff Rd to Collins St? Explain to me how such a historic and amazingly beautiful place as this is inaccessible to Joliet history buffs? No one is allowed to finally located key hill and properly mark this little cemetery? What's really going on here???? And the caves we were supposed to be allowed to explore (that were checked and found to be safe)? Are we not allowed to explore these now? What about the full page of ideas you and I submitted to the city of Joliet to make money from tourism and developing all the assets the city has with it's history?????
Sad situation our leaders have put this community in.
